Marvel Champions Buyer's Guide
If you are a Marvel fan and like playing solo or cooperative card games, Marvel Champions will be right up your alley. Don’t know where to start? This buyer’s guide is for you.
Core Set
If you intend to play Marvel Champions, you must start with the core set.
Inside the core set, you will find five superheroes (Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Iron Man, She-Hulk, and Spiderman), neutral player cards, and aspect cards to customize your deck.
You will also find three villains to confront (Rhino, Klaw, Ultron), encounter cards, hit point dials, condition cards, and a bunch of tokens.
Hero Packs
Hero packs serve two purposes and can be bought in any order. The first purpose is obvious: increase the pool of superheroes you can play. Want to play Ms. Marvel? Buy the Ms. Marvel Hero Pack. Feel like being Thor? Buy the Thor Hero Pack.
The second purpose is to increase the pool of cards to customize your deck. For example, the Captain America Hero pack contains 15 signature cards that can only be used by Captain America, but also 8 neutral cards and 17 cards from the Leadership aspect that can be used by any superhero.
Scenario Packs
Like Hero Packs, Scenario Packs are fully independent of each other and can be bought in any order. They are not linked to form a continuous campaign.
You should consider buying Scenario Packs when you are ready to face new villains. It could be the Green Goblin that comes with two different scenarios or the Wrecked Crew made of 4 villains!
Scenario Packs also come with a few modular encounter decks that can be included in any villain’s encounter deck for more replay value.
Deluxe Expansions
Deluxe Expansions are mini-campaigns. They usually contain 2 new superheroes and 5 scenarios where you must face multiple villains one after the other! Between the scenarios, you can get special cards for your team. Buying a Deluxe Expansion is like buying multiple Hero Packs and Scenario Packs for an amazing price!
